In-studio mixing
Balance, depth and movement for your release — attended in our control room or unattended with clear feedback by audio and notes.

Mixing at Molgulaxeno targets pop, hip-hop and electronic projects where vocals, drums and synths need to share space without fighting. Mix engineer Tom Willems works from the hybrid desk at Haarlemmerweg 239 in Amsterdam: analog inserts where they add colour, in-the-box where speed helps, always on calibrated monitors in a treated room.
You supply stemmed multitracks; we deliver stereo mixes (and on request instrumentals or TV mixes) within an agreed timeline. Rates below include 21% VAT. Each project includes 2 revision rounds; extra rounds or new vocal takes sit outside the package. Terms and deadlines are in our terms and conditions — questions? Contact us, reply within 2 working days.
How it works
Intake
Send a track list, references and stems via cloud or drive. We check sample rate, headroom and naming.
First mix
Within the agreed turnaround you receive a mixdown (typically 24-bit WAV) to judge at home and on headphones.
Revision
You list time-coded notes. We implement up to 2 rounds at no extra fee within scope.
Final
Approved mix plus any agreed alternates. Archive for 24 months; then extend storage or book mastering.
Attended versus unattended
Attended means you listen in the control room for part or all of the mix. It suits artists who want to steer arrangement choices live, judge doubles in context, or learn the process on a first release. Studio hours are booked on top of the mix fee unless the quote states otherwise.
Unattended is default for most packages: you deliver files, we mix on working days and send updates by email. Feedback is written or short voice notes — no studio visit required. If you live outside Amsterdam, unattended is usually fastest; We are at Haarlemmerweg 239, a short walk from the Haarlemmerweg stop (GVB bus 22 towards Indische Buurt). From Amsterdam Sloterdijk station, allow about twelve minutes on foot via Haarlemmerweg. On-street paid parking is available; you can park bicycles in front of the building. The studio entrance is at street level beside the wide front windows. still makes attended sessions easy to reach.
Materials we expect
Deliver stemmed WAV or AIFF files, ideally 24-bit, one sample rate per project (48 kHz is common). Export without a limiter on your session master bus; leave headroom (peaks below -6 dBFS) so we can build EQ and compression calmly. Name tracks clearly: Kick, Snare Top, Lead Vox, BGV L, and so on.
Include a rough mix and two or three reference tracks — not to copy, but to set direction. Our guide reference tracks for mix briefing explains how to pick references without a loudness war. We do not accept MIDI-only without audio stems within Mixing, and we do not supply DAWs or plugins on demand.
Genres and mix approach
We focus on pop, hip-hop/trap and electronic music where vocal presence and kick-bass foundation share priority. Drums get transient-aware treatment; bass is checked for mono compatibility; synths and guitars get width without covering the lead vocal. We avoid baking final loudness into the mix — that reserve is for mastering when possible.
Did drums come from our live room or vocals from the vocal booth? Say so at intake; we know those source mics and room tone. Externally recorded stems are fine if files are technically sound.
Turnaround and revisions
A single track is usually mixed within five to ten working days after complete delivery, depending on schedule. EPs (up to five titles) and albums (up to ten) get a shared timeline in the quote so tone and vocal level stay consistent across songs.
Each package includes 2 revision rounds: collect feedback in one list per round (not drip-fed daily) so we can work efficiently. Changes outside scope — new stems, extra recording, a full genre pivot — are quoted separately. Vocal retakes after the mix go through vocal recording again; that is not a free mix revision.
Delivery formats
Standard delivery is stereo mix as 24-bit WAV at project sample rate, plus an mp3 reference for quick sharing (not for distribution master). On request: instrumental, a cappella, TV mix without lead vocal, or mix-bus stems — the last only if agreed upfront and possibly at extra cost.
We do not hand over DAW sessions unless the quote says so; proprietary plugin chains stay in the studio. Files go by download link; keep your own masters. We store sessions for 24 months per privacy policy and terms.

What the mix fee does not cover
Not included: studio recording, editing bad takes, large-scale tuning/time alignment, sample clearance, artwork, distribution, music-video mixes, and mastering (bookable separately). No unlimited revisions — only 2 rounds as above.
When the mix is approved for release, read stem files before mastering for how to hand off to a mastering engineer — in-house or external. All services are listed on services.
Communication and QC
During the project use [email protected] as the main channel; for urgency call 020 261 3844 during Tue–Fri 09:30–21, Sat 10–17. Naomi Pieters coordinates scheduling and file checks; Tom Willems executes the mix. One point of contact avoids conflicting instructions.
Listen on earbuds, car speakers and studio monitors before sending revision notes — that mirrors our internal checks. Questions about rights in your material: see terms and legal notice. More answers on FAQ.
